Kigali Taste & Ride

Kigali, Rwanda

Rwanda, shown to you by someone who lives here

I drive, I guide, and I know where the food is good. Airport runs, days around the city, evenings out and trips up into the hills. We build the day around what you actually want to see.

I usually reply within the hour.

I'll meet you in your own language

Five languages, one guide. Nobody has to stand and translate between you and the woman at the market, the waiter, or the sign at the roadside.

What we can do together

There are no fixed packages. Tell me how many days you have and what you're in the mood for, and we'll work out the rest.

I'll be in arrivals at Kigali International with your name on a sign, whatever time you land. On the way into town we can pick up a SIM card and change money, so you're sorted from the first morning.

We start at the Genocide Memorial while it's still quiet. Then Kimironko Market, the Niyo Art Gallery, and the roads along the ridges. Coffee where the city itself drinks it, and brochettes eaten standing up.

I've worked in restaurants, and it shows. The table is booked, the menu gets translated, and the kitchen knows. All you have to decide is what you feel like eating.

Lake Kivu if you want the water, Volcanoes National Park if it's the gorillas, Nyungwe if it's the forest, or a coffee farm down south. Long days, early starts, my car and my music.

For people who are moving here. The shops, the meetings, the bank, the school run, and the restaurant where nobody speaks your language. A driver who is also your voice.

You can google the ten best places in Kigali. I'll take you to the eleventh.

How booking works

Write to me

WhatsApp is easiest. Tell me which days, how many of you there are, and the language you'd rather have the day in.

We make a plan

I send you a route and a price. Change as much of it as you like, that's the whole idea.

I'm there

At the airport or at your hotel, at the time we agreed. Clean car, cold water in the back.

You pay afterwards

Cash in dollars or francs, or Mobile Money. Nothing up front, and nothing added on later.

Languages
English, French, Norwegian, Danish and Kinyarwanda
Passengers
Four, with room for the luggage
Payment
Cash or Mobile Money, after the day
Based in
Kigali, but I drive all of Rwanda
The car I pick you up in — a Kia Sorento with room for four and the luggage.

Practical questions

Cash in US dollars or Rwandan francs, or MTN Mobile Money. You pay nothing in advance, and the price we agree on is the price you pay.

Four people with normal luggage. If there are more of you, I bring a second car and a driver I know.

A day or two is plenty for Kigali. For Volcanoes National Park you need to be early: the gorilla permits go weeks before the cars do.

Yes. Tell me when you land and when you leave, and I'll draft the days, including the ones where you should just rest.

What guests say

No reviews yet. If you've travelled with Jean, he'd be glad if you wrote a few lines.

Tell me when you land

Send me your dates and how many of you there are, and I'll come back the same day with a plan and a price.
